Install and Test the Operating System ( OS ) Virtual Windows Use Hyper – V

Whenever a new operating system (if a new version of Windows or a new Linux distro or the new iOS version) was released or are being developed and tested, many people want to try new features and changes to the user interface. To test the new operating system, you must first install it in your computer. But many are reluctant to try out a new OS developed because must install two OS in a single disc (dual boot) or even compromising the OS that has been established for the sake of testing the new OS. This is not a problem if you have more than one hard disk, you can install an OS that has been established on a hard disk and install the OS test on the hard disk to another.

Some people install a new OS directly into their machines and some people do it the smart way. They install a virtual OS barely actually install the OS on their computer, but running OS as a software program (software) that is normal in the existing OS. Just like installing Firefox, Chrome, Photoshop, etc.

Now the question is how do we install the operating system ( OS ) in a virtual OS is running? Actually there are many free and paid software available to install the virtual OS . Some of them are Oracle VM Virtual Box , VMware Workstation , and Microsoft Virtual PC .

But did you know that a new version of Windows such as Windows 8 , Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 already owns / provides this function and you can install a virtual operating system in Windows without using third -party virtualization software ? Features that are Hyper - V , a feature that allows users to create virtual machines on Windows 8 and newer versions of Windows . So with Hyper - V virtual OS you can install in Windows that is running without any additional software .

Actually, Microsoft introduced a new feature called " Hyper - V " with the launch of Windows 8 operating system is used to replace the old Virtual PC program .

For example, we install and test Windows Insider Preview build 10 new computers to try out the functions and new features . In this way ( ie virtualization ) , we can run and test the latest build of Windows 10 in Windows 10 RTM or Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 is also in the running .

Installing a virtual operating system is the way it really safe to try and test . If later on you like the new OS , then you can install it on your hard disk .

Installing a virtual OS also provides other benefits ! You can install the older OS or OS that is no longer supported as installing Windows 98 virtual Desktop PC or laptop that does not support this OS again .

So , if you are using Windows 8 , 8.1 or Windows 10 , you can use the features of Hyper - V to install the desired operating system and test virtual OS in a Windows OS you are running.

Baca: Cara Masuk BIOS.

Note : Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server newer also comes with Hyper - V feature .

if you 're using Windows 8 / 8.1 or Windows 10 is a 64 -bit Pro or Enterprise or Windows Server 2008 you have lebh or later, you can enjoy the features of Hyper - V using the following steps .
We recommend setting up your orange juice for this tutorial may be a bit long

How to Install / Enable Hyper – V
In order to use Hyper - V , you must first install it . No need to download software , we just have to turn right from within Windows .
Step 1 : Install the Hyper - V Features
By default Hyper - V is not enabled on Windows , you need to activate / install it manually . Follow the steps below to install Hyper - V :
1.        Open the Control Panel , go to " Programs and Features " and then click on the link "Turn Windows features on or off " .

2.        Will open a new window . Now tick the checkbox " Hyper - V " and click the OK button .

Wait , Hyper - V installation took some time and when finished you will be prompted to restart the computer .

Step 2 : Run the Hyper - V Manager
Once Hyper - V is installed to run Hyper - V Manager is a major program to create a virtual machine and install the OS virtually.

You can run the Hyper - V Manager from the All Apps list in the Start Screen / Start Menu . You 'll find it at the Administrative Tools .

You can also use the search box to look for Hyper-V Manager and then click on the shortcut that appears in the search results.

Alternatively you can try is to use the RUN dialog box, type the command virtmgmt.msc in the RUN or it could be in the search box.

Step 3: Turn on network support (enable Networking support) in order to use the internet in OS Virtual

This is an optional step, you should not miss!

After you run the Hyper-V Manager, you can instantly create a virtual machine, but if you do not activate the network and create a new virtual machine, you will not be able to use an existing Internet connection in the virtual machine.

If you do not want to use the Internet connection on a virtual machine, you can skip this langkap and skip to Step 4. We recommend enabling the network to allow you to do an update on the virtual OS.

If you want to use your Internet connection in the virtual machine as well, follow the steps to activate the network in a virtual machine

1. In Hyper - V Manager , click Action - > Virtual Switch Manager

2. Will open a new window . Now select the " External " button and click "Create Virtual Switch "

3. Name the virtual switch as you like and select the appropriate network adapter from the drop -down list . For example I choose the Wireless Network Adapter , then later virtual OS can only be connected to the Internet if the parent OS using a Wi- Fi connection .

4. Click the Apply button to create a virtual switch. It will ask for confirmation , click the Yes button

Step 4 : Create a Virtual Machine to Install OS Virtual
This is when we are going to install Windows in Windows . In this tutorial I am going to install Windows 10
Insider Preview in Windows 10 RTM .

1. In Hyper - V Manager , click Action - > New - > Virtual Machine . This will start the wizard ( wizard ) that guides you create a virtual machine .

2. Click the Next button and it will ask for a name and location to create a new virtual machine . You can let it go and choose a name that already exists or create a new name as you wish. You can also change the location for storing virtual machine files . Then click Next

3. You will be asked to select the type of virtual machine generation . By default Generation 1 is selected but you can also choose Generation 2. Generation 1 is more compatible with the guest operating system because it supports legacy drivers ( you do not need to install the driver again ) , BIOS -based architecture , etc . whereas Generastion 2 is a more advanced types that support UEFI ( Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) firmware instead of BIOS -based firmware .

Select only the option Generation 1 and click the Next button .

4. Now set the amount of RAM allocated to the new virtual machine . By default , elected 1024 MB or 1GB . You can increase the amount of RAM if you want . Better to increase the amount of RAM becomes 2048MB is 2GB . Then click the Next button .

5. Now the wizard will ask for the configuration of networking support . If you want to enable Internet connection on a virtual OS then select a single virtual switch that you created in Step 3. If you do not want an Internet connection then select "Not Connected " . Continue to click the Next button.

6. Now set the storage size and location of the virtual hard disk file . By default it is set to 20GB . But you can change the size of the storage according to your needs. For example, set the size to 25 or 30GB of storage should be more than enough to install a virtual operating system on a virtual machine.

Now click the Next button .
7. Important step ! Now you'll select the operating system setup ISO file that you want to use to install the virtual OS . Choose the second option "Install an operating system from a bootable CD / DVD - ROM " and then select the " Image file (.iso ) " and select your OS ISO file using the Browse button

After selecting the appropriate ISO file , click the Next button .

  1. The wizard will display a summary of all the options you have selected , click Finish to create a virtual machine .

Wait , virtual machine creation process does not require a long time . Up here you 've managed to create a virtual machine that is ready to install the virtual OS .

The next step is to run a virtual machine and start installing virtual OS , in this tutorial I am going to install Windows 10 Insider Pro .

Step 5 : Start and Connect Virtual Machine

First , start the virtual machine and then connect. It's easy , follow these simple steps below:

1. In Hyper - V Manager , right-click on a virtual machine that was created and select the option "Start " .

2. Sekaran double click on the virtual machine or right click on it and select the " Connect

That is all. Furthermore, a new window will be displayed . This is the Windows installation window as the installation of Windows on a real machine .

Step 6 : Turn Off Virtual Machine

When you are done and want to shut down the virtual machine , simply close the window that will not close it . The virtual machine will keep running in the background . You need to completely turn off the virtual machine so it does not take up your system resources .

1. Right click on the virtual machine and the first select " Shut Down " to shut down the guest operating system ( OS virtual ) so that the settings will be saved .
2. Right-click again on the virtual machine and now select the option "Turn Off" to completely turn off the virtual machine .

Done. That's the steps to install a virtual operating system on Windows 8 / 8.1 / 10 , or Windows Server 2008 and newer .

Good luck and hopefully useful !
